NO LIMIT INTERNATIONAL under the leadership of Co-Founder, Ms. Orlyanka Tantchou organized a 2-day leadership camp in Yaoundé from July 27 to July 28, 2022. The theme of the camp was “Build Self-Confidence to find your Voice and be a Leader”. Over fifty girls currently attending high school in Yaoundé participated with enthusiasm and dedication. The camp was an opportunity for the girls to meet, greet, connect, make new friends but most importantly gain skills that are essential in leadership, especially female leadership. “The purpose of the camp is to encourage girls to find their voices and speak up on issues that matter to them. We want them to come and share their stories but at the same time learn and grow with each other and gain leadership skills that are essential for their future career goals and aspirations. We opted for the choice of girls because female leadership is underrepresented around the world; meanwhile female leadership is very important because girls are just as capable as men, and they should have the same opportunities”. Said Orlyanka Tantchou, Co-Founder, NO LIMIT INTERNATIONAL.

The girls for 2 days learned the value of self-discovery and using your creative thinking and talents to express yourself. Several topics were addressed during the camp such as: self-confidence building skills, creative thinking, female role model, and female economic empowerment to name a few. 7 girls presented amazing projects ranging from artistic imagination to innovative solutions to local challenges. These girls through their creative projects showed enormous potential to pursue STEM fields in the future. “I really encourage the girls to consider STEM career opportunities because it’s one of the fastest growing occupations and in demand jobs right now but with low percentage of female representation”, stated Orlyanka Tantchou, Co-Founder NO LIMIT INTERNATIONAL. The girls were presented with videos of female leaders and their style of leadership to emphasize the importance of female role models in shaping a better future for them. “I have learned from the camp that being a girl is not a fatality. Actually, she is an important asset for her county and the world at large” stated Ms. Achu Fanita Fanniel, participant, and presenter of a STEM project. She designed and fabricated a light bulb shell connected to an electric circuit that supplies energy to it. “I used empty containers of butter to produce the shell, it was an idea that came to me during the camp, I wanted to use recycled materials to produce energy” explained Ms. Achu of her project. Another participant with a creative STEM project, Ms. Nga Bilegue Therese corroborated “we were taught that there is no trade reserved for boys and that we must be bold and brave enough to seek every opportunity that comes along”. By encouraging the young future leaders, Ms. Orlyanka Tantchou enjoined them to keep fighting for their role and place in the society.

The participants at the end of the 2-day camp were handed certificates of participation by the non-profit organization, which would be helpful in building their curriculum vitae. As Ms. Orlyanka best put it “The camp is over but NO LIMIT INTERNATIONAL will continue to monitor and mentor the next generation of female leaders”.
